Giants are inferior tanks compared to P.E.K.K.As, Golems and Ice Golems.Be sure to eliminate defensive troops ASAP to protect Giants. Giants ignore defensive troops and heroes (Clan Castle Troops, Skeletons from Skeleton Traps, Barbarian King and Archer Queen) as long as there is still a visible Defensive Building on the base. They can tank for Wizards and Witches while they do the damage from behind. As the description implies, they are best used to tank for other Troops rather than using them as the main damage dealer as they have low damage but decent health. These strategies are helpful for Town Halls 3-6, especially in wars. To counter this it is recommended to bring support troops as well, like a Wizard to destroy them. Be wary of Air Defenses primarily however, as Healers are very weak to them. Another variation is to send many Giants with three or four Healers. But if you are able, you can send a group of Wizards instead, as they are even better. Once the Mortar(s) and Wizard Tower(s) are attacking the Giants, you can send in swarms of lower hit point troops such as Goblins and Archers depending on your preference. As soon as the Mortar hits the Giants, send in the Wall Breakers to break through the Walls. At the beginning of a Raid, send in several Giants closest to the Mortar(s)/ Wizard Tower(s).However, they also take much more housing space than Barbarians. Because of this, they are less vulnerable to Mortar fire and other splash damage, making them much harder to kill. In general, Giants make better distracting troops than Barbarians at earlier TH levels due to their much higher health. You can use Giants as a cheap meat shield while deploying other, higher damaging troops to destroy buildings and defenses, resulting in a good synergy used for lower THs. However, Giants are weak against many powerful defenses grouped together. Giants have a lot of health but are slow and low in DPS, so use them in groups. However, they will not switch targets to enemy units until their previous target was destroyed. Once all defenses are destroyed, Giants become like any other troop with no preferred target they will attack the nearest building to them regardless of type, and will turn and attack enemy units if they become aware of any nearby and can fight back against them. Note that like all troops that prioritize defenses, Giants do not consider the Clan Castle to be a defense regardless of whether or not it contains enemy troops, but do consider the defending Grand Warden and the activated Town Hall weapon (if any) to be defensive buildings. This is true even if they are under attack by enemy Clan Castle troops, heroes or Skeleton Trap skeletons. Giants prioritize defensive structures above all other targets, and will bypass all other types of enemy buildings and troops while any defenses remain on the battlefield. However, due to their low attack damage they are better used in large groups. The Giant’s first target is defenses, making them an ideal troop to deploy to get rid of defenses fast. The Giant is the third troop unlocked in the Barracks. Those upgrades come with a plethora of added bonuses too! Check out the perks you’ll receive when you upgrade your Troops and Battle Machine. Not only can your Troops be upgraded to level 14, but the Battle Machine can be upgraded to level 20 as well. Your offensive units gain benefits in the Builder Hall 7 update. Use the Drop Ship to obfuscate your kill squads and ranged damage from ground defenses, or use them to clear ground defenses like the Giant Cannon to allow funneling. However, in the Builder Base, these hot air attackers drop Skeletons in mass hordes to sow chaos and confusion among your opponent’s ground defenses. In your Town Hall, the Balloons drop explosives. However, it’s the Giant Cannon that really makes your Builder Base defenses shine! Along with the increased defenses, all of your buildings, traps (except for the Spring Traps), and walls can be upgraded to Level 7. The addition of another Hidden Tesla and Firecrackers helps take care of those pesky Baby Dragon spam attacks and adding a fifth Army Camp gives you greater tactical flexibility as you advance your attack strategies with the new Drop Ship air unit. Even the Battle Machine can only endure a couple hits before it’s taken out of commission. Its projectile is so effective, once released it will continue on clearing everything in its path until it reaches the end of the map! Watch Skeletons, Bombers, and Archers get tossed like confetti. What else says your base means serious business than a massive barrel capable of demolishing several troops in a single blast? The Giant Cannon is the ultimate deterrent against ground attacks.
